Obituary for James J. Hansel

James J.  Hansel
James J. Hansel, age 81, of Two Rivers passed away Thursday evening, November 15, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born October 24, 1937 in Two Rivers, son of the late Joseph and Laura (Grenier) Hansel. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers with the class of 1957. On August 11, 1962 he was united in marriage to the former Sandra Bohne. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2006.

Jim was the owner/operator of Hansel’s Tire & Battery, Two Rivers for many years. He was an avid fisherman, taking all of his grandchildren fishing at one time or another. He enjoyed taking family photographs, going to Florida and staying with family, but especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren at all the events they were involved with. Jim was grateful to his partner in the business, Mike Gagnon, who allowed him to spend more time with his family.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Deb & Karl Shimulunas, Two Rivers; Jennifer & Elmer Mikeal, Two Rivers; Gretchen & Joel Whitehouse, Shawano; eight grandchildren: Nick (Allison) Stevens, Lauren Shimulunas, Trevor Shimulunas, Tyler Shimulunas (Katie), Alan (Christine) Mikeal, Brandon (Mindy) Mikeal, Cassandra Whitehouse (fiancé Hunter), and Marcus Whitehouse; three great grandchildren: Isaiah Massman, Nathan Massman, and Hunter Mikeal; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Richard Hansel, Parkersburg, W.V.; Joseph & Anne Hansel, Orlando, FL; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Marian & Herb Bunke; Marilyn Christel, all of Two Rivers; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra Hansel, one brother Ronald Hansel and one brother-in-law Patrick Christel.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau with entombment of his cremated remains to take place at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
