Life Story for Helen M. Urban (Schmidt)

Helen M. Urban, age 93, a former Manitowoc resident, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Iron River Nursing Home, Iron River, Michigan.

She was born on October 13, 1918 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Emil and Minnetta (Luehrs) Schmidt. Helen was a graduate of Chilton High School, Class of 1936. On May 23, 1942 she married William Urban in Chilton. He preceded her in death on August 21, 2002. Prior to her marriage, she was a telephone operator in Chilton. Helen dedicated her life to her family and home, her garden, flowers, especially baking and cooking for her extended family.

Survivors include her three children: Margaret Mylchcrest, Iron River, Michigan, David Urban, Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel Urban, Carrollton, Texas; twelve grandchildren: Shirley, Melanie, Jim, Bruce, Mark, Michelle, Mary Lynn, Kent, Roger, Lisa, Brenda, Heather; thirty great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Harold Urban & his wife LuAnn, Milwaukee, Norbert Mohs, Plymouth; and two sisters-in-law: Elsie Gessert, Plymouth and Rusty Urban, New Holstein. She is further survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Gadzinski, who was taken to Heaven by the Lord 14 hours after her mother’s death. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: Marshall Mylchcrest and Sylvester Gadzinski; a daughter-in-law: Madeline Urban and a brother and sister-in-law: Robert & Arleen Schmidt.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 across from The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, at All-Care Cremation and Family Center. Officiating at the Service will be Rev. Erik Kolonich and Rev. Guy Corrigall with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

The family will greet relatives and friends at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 until 10:45 a.m.
