Ben was a Colorado boy thru and thru, living in many towns on the eastern slope. Ben enjoyed many roads trips with his Grandmother Edna Bonner; He also enjoyed trips to visit Grandma and Grandpa Bill and Joann in Ohio. During his trips to Ohio he loved spending time with his Aunts Michelle and Amy and playing hide and go seek with Uncle Mike. Spending time with his Uncle Kerry was high of his list of favorite things.

Ben’s love of mining and geology was inspired by his Great Grandfather who was a silver miner. At a very young age he would take Grandma Edna's small rock hammer and hammer everything!

Growing up, his younger brother Nick was his constant companion. Ben was 6 years older than Nick but never minded having a shadow. They played soccer, practiced baseball, swimming, wrestling, bowling and playing. They also enjoyed many adventures with their brother and sister from another mother Shannon and James.

Ben graduated from Smoky hill high school and attended Univ of Northern Colorado and Colorado Mountain College. After college Ben lived in North Carolina where he worked as a Chef and plummer. Ben returned to Colorado where he lived in Waldenburg there he worked remodeling a rest home. He the remodeled a personal home in Central City that was built in front of a mine. Talk about heaven for Ben, a mine in his house....perfection.

Ben started a career as a long haul truck driver. During this time he met his future wife Wendy Hansen. Ben and Wendy were meant for each other. They dated for 5 years and then married New Years Eve 2013 with family present in Toledo Ohio. Road trips continued to be a large part of Ben's life; he shared great many trips with Wendy and their dog Mina. Wendy even got her CDL so she could travel and drive with Ben so they wouldn't be part while he worked. Ben and Wendy were both wonderful Chefs and shared a love of hiking, bowling, camping and rock hounding. They often loaded up their ATV's and headed for the wilderness.

Above all, anyone who knew Ben, was privileged to enjoy his sense of humor. If not for his dislike of public speaking, he would have been a stand up comedian. His great impressions and jokes would have you rolling. After losing his wife Wendy, Ben's future plans included a rest home Comedy tour. He felt, "where else could you find a more appreciative, captive audience". At the same time he could check out possible retirement spots and dating material for his Mom Mardy.

Internment will be in Two Rivers Wisconsin, Wed July 20th.
