Life Story for Irene L. Shimon

Irene L.  Shimon
Irene L. Shimon, age 93, formerly of 305 Crystal Spring Road, Two Rivers, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at St. Mary’s Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Irene was born May 8, 1925 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Ernst and Hattie (Bartnik) Holschbach. She attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1943. On June 7, 1945 she married Adolph Shimon at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2005. The couple farmed in the Town of Two Rivers. She also worked as a cashier for Copps of Manitowoc, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Two Rivers. She enjoyed the outdoors and farming, playing sheepshead and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include four children: Bob (Kathy) Shimon, Town of Two Rivers, Jim (Deb) Shimon, South Dakota, Larry (Sue) Shimon, Manitowoc, and TR Shimon, Washington; two grandchildren: Lori Pendleton, South Dakota, and Jared (Amy) Shimon, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren: Ben, Annika, Chayton, Gage and Shaylah; one brother: Ernie Holschbach; and one sister-in-law: Olive Fischer. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She is further preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law: Ray (Pearl) Holschbach; one sister: Ruth Holschbach; five brothers-in-law and eight sisters-in-law: Benny (Grace) Shimon, Joe (Martha) Shimon, John Shimon, and Melvin (Delores) Shimon, Jim Fischer, Evelyn Shimon, Cecilia Shimon, Elaine Holschbach, Evie Holschbach and Dee Holschbach.

Private family services will be held and Irene will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
