Obituary for Rick C. Oswald

Rick C.  Oswald
Rick C. Oswald, age 59 of Two Rivers, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 23, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family under the care of Aurora at Home Hospice following a 18 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.



Rick was born on November 14, 1961 in Manitowoc, son of the late Vernon G. and Shirley M. (Naidl) Oswald. He grew up in the Town of Franklin attending local schools and graduated with the Class of 1980 from Reedsville High School. Rick then attended St. Norbert College in De Pere and received a BA in Business Administration in 1984. On May 8, 1993, Rick was married to Cindy (Rasmussen) Chrest at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. The couple resided in Manitowoc until 2019 when they moved to Two Rivers.



Rick began his sales career at the Lakeshore Chronicle serving as sales manager followed by a move to Jones Intercable and finally working for US Cellular retiring in 2016 due to illness. Rick enjoyed people and serving others, performing in many theatrical productions in the Manitowoc County area. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Yacht Club and a former member of the Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce, Manitowoc Noon Optimist and served on the Board of Directors of the Domestic Violence Center, now known as “Encourage”.



Survivors include his wife: Cindy Oswald, Two Rivers; five children: Jason C. Chrest, Manitowoc; Mark T. Chrest, Sheboygan; Mary Beth Rasmussen, Union Grove; Samuel V. Oswald, Manitowoc; Earl J. Oswald, Manitowoc; one granddaughter: Audrey Marie Rasmussen, Two Rivers; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeff (Sandy) Oswald, Whitelaw; Dean (Mary) Oswald, Menomonee Falls; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Chris (Christine) Rasmussen, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Vernon and Shirley Oswald, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Mark and Jan Rasmussen; one special cousin: Mic Eichhorst; aunts, uncles and other relatives.



Cremation has taken place and due to the current Covid -19 pandemic, a private memorial service for Rick’s family will take place at the All Care Crematory and Reception Center, Manitowoc. The Rev. Brian Staude will officiate, followed by a reception time of light refreshments and stories of Rick. A Public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
