Obituary for Wayne "Pooch" Peronto

Wayne "Pooch" Peronto
Wayne Peronto, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Magnolia Meadows, Manitowoc.

Wayne was born on August 11, 1935 in Manitowoc, son of the late Raymond and Grace (Gudwer) Peronto. On May 28, 1955 he married the love of his life, Lucille Zelewski in Manitowoc. They spent 49 wonderful years together and she preceded him in death on August 8, 2004. He began his career at Medusa Cement as a millwright and eventually became a foreman. Wayne was proud of his accomplishments with only an 8th grade education. He was always very happy to share a good joke and make people laugh. Everyday he proudly displayed his American flag, that had been flown over the Capital, at his home on South 20th Street. Wayne was a bartender as well and always enjoyed the conversations he had with his customers. He also enjoyed listening to Sandy Davis on WOMT. Wayne became an expert in all his interests and hobbies. He would read and research to make sure he knew everything he possibly could. Wayne enjoyed fishing, gardening (he grew the best radishes), mushroom picking, Wine/Beer Brewing, listening to Big Band music, and cheering on the Brewers and Packers.
