Obituary for Michael J. McKay

Michael  J.  McKay
Michael J. McKay, age 58 of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Michael was born on September 2, 1962 in Manitowoc, son of the late John and Betty (Hanson) McKay. He grew up in Manitowoc. Michael will always be remembered for his quick wit. He was always ready with a joke to keep everyone laughing. Michael loved to play trivia. His favorite thing of all was music, he sang along with all songs.

Survivors include his sisters: Debbie McKay, Patty McKay, Suzette (Brian) Probst; one brother: Jim McKay; one brother-in-law: Larry Riebe; nieces and nephews include: Shawn Riebe, Nikki (Dennis) Posen, Rebecca Riebe, Jamie McKay, Michelle McKay, Dan McKay, Darlene McKay and Jory McKay; one uncle: Ron (Ruth) Hanson; one aunt: Barbara (Louie) Rocheleau; cousins, and his special buddy: Rachel Pongratz. Michael was preceded in death by his parents: John McKay and Betty (Hanson) McKay; grandparents: Harold and Lydia McKay, Lester and Helen Hanson; one special niece: Sunshine McKay; one nephew: Andrew Riebe; his best friend: Mike Hranicka; his dog: Daisy and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th St. Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with cremation to follow at the All Care Cremation Center. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. The family requires that everyone in attendance wear a face mask at all times and observe social distancing at all times. The service will be live streamed via Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes Facebook page for those who cannot attend. Michael,
You always told us you wish you could see and walk, you are finally free. Free from the blindness, wheelchair and especially the pain. We will miss you, rest in peace, until we meet again. Love you always!
