Obituary for Daniel J. Matthew Sr.

Daniel J. Matthew Sr.
Daniel J. Matthews, Sr, age 48, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.

Dan was born on September 11, 1972 in Sturgeon Bay, son of Nancy Rockwell. He grew up in Manitowoc and attended Lincoln High School. On June 6, 1998 he married the former Sarah J. Sebo at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. For the past 16 years Dan owned and operated Maritime Cab and Delivery in Manitowoc. He was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.

Dan was diagnosed with Stage Five Kidney Failure on July 9th, 2020. Every day from then on he fought bravely and as hard as he could. He is no longer weak and is at peace.

Dan loved his family with all of his heart and soul. He enjoyed camping and playing cribbage, Yahtzee and rummy at the table after family supper. He strived to make his business the best it could possibly be. His heart belonged to his two granddaughters, whom he barely went a day without seeing. There are no words to express how wonderful of a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend he was. No matter where Dan went, he left no strangers. We will miss him every day.

Survivors include the love of his life: Sarah J. Matthews, Manitowoc; his parents: Nancy (Rockwell) and Dave Rusch, Manitowoc; his five children: Brooke Sebo, Christina Sebo, Cheyenne Sebo-Matthews, Daniel Matthews, Jr, and Hope Field, all of Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Hazyl and Vylet Sebo-Matthews; his father-in-law: Roy Sebo, Valders; two sisters: Paulette Madden (Todd Skar), Misty (Michael) Mrotek, all of Green Bay; One uncle; Joe (Linda) Rockwell and One Aunt; Connie Rockwell; and Honorary family members; Malcome Young and Amaya Franco. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his step father, Frank Copus; grandparents; Leo and Doraine (Dode) Rockwell, Alice Sebo; one uncle: Roger Rockwell; and one nephew: Cody Sprang.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Stephen Melso.
